Hallux valgus

Misalignment of the big toe, often associated with a prominent, tender bunion.

Exostoses

Bony projections that may cause pressure-related discomfort and pain.

Pressure tenderness may occur over the bony projection. Exostoses can also develop elsewhere on the foot.

Hallux rigidus

Osteoarthritis of the joint at the base of the big toe, causing pain and restricted movement.

Typical symptoms are pain and restricted movement at the base of the big toe, for example when pushing off while walking.

Morton’s neuroma

A painful change in a nerve in the forefoot, which may cause burning pain or altered sensation.

Burning pain or altered sensation may occur in the forefoot and adjacent toes. The precise location can vary.
