What is treated in a hernia?
An inguinal or umbilical hernia involves a gap or weakness in the abdominal wall. Tissue or abdominal contents may protrude through it.

How is the hernia repaired?
During surgery, the herniated contents are returned to their normal position and the opening is closed or reinforced. Depending on the type and size of the hernia, repair with sutures or additional reinforcement with a synthetic mesh may be appropriate. We discuss the technique for your case before the procedure.
Preparation and aftercare
Planning takes account of your findings, general health and any previous operations. You will receive information about anaesthesia, wound care and when you can resume everyday activities.
